Thinking

Interviewed an indigenous student yesterday. The student was from an OA community in the southern state. Intelligent, bright and cheerful.

But this is another issue. Just visited a blog where the student's tribe's name was mentioned as an analogy to being naive, unskilled and uncultured.

From the interview, it occurs to me that indeed we are the ones that are not aware that many in the OA communities have transited considerably into this new millenium, with better ICT awareness and skills. No doubt there are issues with school attendance and engagement. But I would not want those that have moved forward forever labelled and lumped as ignorant ...

I am sure IT people will recognise this function immediately.

A real novice (where IT was concerned)  when I started with a consulting group working on a HRMIS project. The Project Manager however appreciated that gap. So being a faster "typist" he would sometimes typed while I dictated the documentation requirement off my head. Especially when 'due' was becoming "critically urgent".

Mostly, I was slowed down by the "Edit" function. To make changes, I would click on "Edit". For instance, to COPY and PASTE, I would click on EDIT, COPY, and PASTE.

I was watching him using the faster method. How did you do that ... I asked.

Easy ... he said. To COPY you just highlight the sentence, then press Ctrl C. To CUT, same but press Ctrl X

Okay, that's easy to remember ... I responded. Ctrl C for Control Copy. Ctrl X for Control Out - X for unwanted.

Then to PASTE must be Ctrl P ... I extrapolated cleverly ...

No, no, no ... he quickly denied my intelligent extrapolation.

To PASTE, you use Ctrl V ... he answered ... fingers meanwhile busy on the keyboard, mind on the completion of the report ... while teaching me the inconsequential at the same time ... multitasking of modern professional.

Ctrl V? ... I was puzzled ... why not Ctrl P for Control Paste? I was not happy with this anomaly.

Okay ... Ctrl V ... for ... CONTROL VUT (rhyme with Control Put) he answered.

Now, do you think, I will ever forget this lesson? ...

Lesson Learned

Was trying to update the design template for this blog. Normally when I did this, I could easily return to my original if I don't fancy the new design. But pada hari yang satu itu, cuba pula "dynamic view" ... never, never again ... at least until I can get the hang of this properly.

That view must be untuk orang yang dah terlebih pandai. So being novice, duduk diam-diam.

Now how I get back to this simple and more user-friendly view.

I thought I will start with my email. Since that e-mail was created wholly, solely for creating this blog, maka tak pernahlah dijenguk. Kena pula reactivate.

Okay, sudah reactivate. Tak juga jumpa pintu masuk this blog.

So I thought forget about it. Just create a new one and transfer content to the new blog. Creating new blogs ni dah mahir lah sikit. Different blogs for different audience.

I google (d) how to create a new blog. Lo and behold ... terjumpa pintu masuk Blog ni. AlhamduLILLAH.

Now revert to SIMPLE TEMPLATE and STAY PUT!
